funnel

 {max asks to wear her swimming suit the minute she wakes up. every day. love her.}
can you see what she sees???
it was quite the spectacle in the yard last night.
the spider.
or the airplane races.
whichever.
it built a funneled web like a tornado right down into the base of the grass.
and went up and down its tube as the kids leaned over to take a peak.
max kept squealing when it would move.
in true girl fashion.
brennan was mostly concerned that the spider was going to be mad at sean for cutting up his home tonight with the mower.
b/c then the spider might bite him.
such a tender little heart.
i didn't point out that the mower would probably cut up the spider before it had a chance to bite dad.
sad for the spider.
happy for me:)

burning

the closest wild fire i've ever seen.
in herriman, about 15 min across the valley from us.
i saw it around 3:30 today after i put chase down for his nap.
coming down the stairs i caught the billowing smoke straight on.
the smell was thick right when i opened the front door.
the news had so many fire symbols on the state map last night
that i couldn't even count how many were burning across utah right now.
one more tonight.
god bless the red cross and the homes that are burning.

the door won.

her toe nail had a fight with the door to the garage.
the door won.
so sad.
i didn't know what to do,
so i just held a paper towel down on her big toe,
put that toe nail back where it was supposed to be,
and fastened a band aid with neosporin right on top.
two days later,
and she's still limping around on the heel of her foot.
here's to hoping it doesn't get infected.
i think this one's going to take a few more princess band aids
before we can really throw this ouchie in the garbage.
{you can un-churn your stomach now.}

use a knife to ease the cookies out of their little tins to finish cooling on a plate.
{if you take them out to early they will flatten out like a pancake.}
they had me at
HELLO:)

don't take the car home! {ferris}

{he just reminds me of ferris bueller in these glasses. i don't know why.}
.........
sloane: what are we going to do?
ferris: the question isn't "what are we going to do," the question is "what aren't we going to do?"
cameron: please don't say we're not going to take the car home. please don't say we're not going to take the car home. please don't say we're not going to take the car home.
ferris: {to the camera} if you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away?

s'mores in the summer 101

MONKEY SEE,
monkey do.
:):):)
it's hot.
REAL
hot.
so i spent 5 hours in the pool with my kids.
{i don't think i've spent that much time in a pool myself since i was a kid.}
floating might be the best feeling on the planet.
i'm beginning to love our mondays:)

note to self:
s'mores in the summer are not fun UNTIL the sun goes down.
if the sun is still up it's just too hot.
TOO HOT!
{it does however melt your chocolate for you. very helpful.}

counting sheep

we finally moved him out of his toddler bed.
{yes, he's 4. we're slow like that.}
he was so excited the first night that he laid awake until 10:30pm,
just laying there smiling:)
until he decided that he was a little nervous about it too.
i laid with him and sung to him until his eyes started rolling back.
and then turned on his little night light and left the door open.
the next day he told me that spiderman had a bed just like him,
and that he was going to sit on his bed and read books for awhile
b/c that's what big kids and spiderman do in their beds.
so proud.

now to teach him how to make it on his own...

"moonday"

starting his "moonday" off right.
hopefully yours now too;)
