i don't want to be wasteful {harvest days parade}

the only parade
you'll ever see me at.
harvest days.
sitting in grandma casper's driveway.
the giant hilcrest husky was the highlight of the parade for chase.
and he liked running out into the street to pick up candy.
brennan loved "everything," but he didn't like the scary costume part.
the halloween float always freaks me out too.
max loved the princesses.
she would jump up and wave at them every time.
completely star struck.
it's short,
it's sweet,
and there's always otter pops and enough salt water candy left over
for you to pass out at halloween.
what?
i don't want to be wasteful;)

"it's the most wonderful time of the year!!" -holly vick

i swore i would never let my little girl buy anything barbie.
we own a barbie scooter, helmet,
and
now
a
backpack.
awesome:)
it had her at pink ruffle 3D skirt.
i actually liked brennan's skull pack.
he picked out a ninja turtle thermos,
and avengers sneakers.
purple sneakers and a sparkly sofia the first shirt for max.
chase got nothing.
unless you count everything brennan picked out.
hand
me
downs
are
great.
i also bought them both a box of brand new crayola crayons.
and spiral notebooks.
i just couldn't resist.
i will now torture them,
as i was once tortured,
by not letting them use or wear any of it
until the first day of school.
:):):)
just as it should be.
so much more fun that way.
"it's the mooooooooooooost wonderful tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime
of
the
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrr!!!!!"

we're not gonna make it.

we're not gonna make it to august 26th.
had to lock him outside.
safer for everyone:)

THE PINK.

chase woke up with crusty eyes.
by noon they weren't crusty anymore.
they were goopy.
by 5pm max had it too.
we have the pink.
by the next day, brennan was victim #3.
god bless eye drops.
they all have colds as well.
it just doesn't seem right to be sick in the summer.
but it's better than being sick in the winter.
i took these pictures to send to my pediatrician and his nurse.
b/c they're awesome like that.
everyone got a good laugh of my THE PINK photography skills.
i thought they were really funny.
my kids weren't as pleased.
good times.
2 drops in each eye. 3 times a day. for 5 days. in all 3 children.
brennan is the worst of all 3. max is the best. chase is the easiest to hold down.
i'm not complaining i swear.
{brennan didn't want me to take his picture.}

FRIED GREEN TOMATOES

when life gives
you green tomatoes...
FRY THEM:)
and text your mom, your sister, and your best friend the entire time
about how you wish they were there doing it with you.
and then buy the movie on amazon.
for $4.38 cents
b/c you can't find the vhs one in your mom's movie library
that you grew up watching.
they tasted like...
fried:)
b/c i know that's what you're wondering.
but i'm not sure if they taste like fried tomatoes,
but they sure tasted deliciously fried:)
deliciously fried and dipped in my bbq ranch sauce.
...

FRIED GREEN TOMATOES

INGREDIENTS:
2-3 big fat green tomatoes, cut into 1/4" slices
kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
3/4 cup flour
1 tbls garlic powder
4 eggs
2 tbls milk
1 1/2 cups panko bread crumbs
pinch of cayenne pepper
pinch of paprika
3 shallow dishes for your assembly line
canola or vegetable oil for frying
{enough to fill your pan about 1/2"-1" high}

DIRECTIONS:
1. cut your tomatoes, kosher salt and pepper them,
and discard the end pieces. heat your oil in a pan on the stove for about 5 minutes at medium heat.
{i did my first batch medium high and it burned them.
my second batch at medium heat was perfect.}
2. flour and garlic powder into 1 small shallow dish.
3. eggs and milk into 1 small shallow dish,
whisk together with a fork.
4. panko bread crumbs, cayenne pepper,
and paprika in another shallow dish.
5. coat in the flour mixture, dredge/sink into the egg/milk mixture making sure all of the flour is covered with the egg/milk mixture, then coat with the panko bread crumbs mixture.
do 4-5 slices at a time.
{i stacked mine on top of each other off to the side of the bread crumb bowl
so they could all go into the frier at the same time.}
6. place 4-5 slices into your pan of oil.
turn when golden brown. cool on paper towel.
7. repeat with second and/or third batches.
8. serve warm with ranch bbq sauce,
or whatever dip you fancy with your fried foods.
{i used byu creamery ranch with a few squirts of our homemade bbq sauce,
but just use what you have. it will be awesome!}

7 hours later i finally dragged
their water logged bodies home.

with tan bodies and white bums.

he took it well

me: "Cade's birthday

his OVAL boat WITH chairs {and thunder & lightening}

above: a story from the book of mormon.
the brother of jared in his boat.
his OVAL boat.
with chairs to sit on.
and babies sleeping on their beds.
{okay, so the story has some added imagination.}
{i love that even more.}
thunder clouds WITH lightening bolts.
and the holes where the air and light could be let in when needed.
...
i love that brennan draws.
i am bursting with pride!
and i really think his brain is just awesome when it does amazing stuff like this.
AMAZING STUFF.
:):):)
AND...
my GIANTS are getting ready to bloom.
their tiny little yellow faces about to POP!
i can hardly wait:)
8 and 9 feet tall beauties.
they tower over me like something out of a childhood story book.
i love to go outside and stand under them.
looking up.
happy happy sunday:)
